Jasminum Filigree Ear Studs with Ruby and Pearl Backings in 18k Gold
Product Description
A pair of ear studs shaped through the form of Jasminum sambac — Arabian jasmine, recognised in Indonesia as Puspa Bangsa, a flower associated with purity, continuity, and ceremonial presence.
Developed as a scaled transformation of the silver Jasminum studs, the form shifts into 18 karat yellow gold, introducing a sense of maturity and permanence within the structure. The flowers are constructed in fine filigree, each holding a natural ruby at its centre. The ruby marks a point of intensity and vitality, anchoring the bloom within a concentrated core of presence.
At the back of each earring, carved freshwater pearls form a rounded surface textured with a subtle dragon-scale relief. Positioned behind the ear, these surfaces recall the movement of a bud forming into bloom — a quiet transition held in reverse, where growth is not only seen at the front but supported from behind.
Together, front and back express a complete cycle of transformation — from contained formation, to full bloom, to the memory of becoming. The composition is read across both sides of the ear as a continuous state of growth rather than a single fixed moment.

Handcrafted in London through hand carving and strand-by-strand filigree construction, using fine 18 karat yellow gold wire that is shaped and placed individually. The process is slow and controlled, informed by Indonesian craft traditions and carried through a contemporary approach to form and composition.
