Frequently asked questions

We have gathered answers to some of the most common questions about Pusaka, from jewellery care and sizing to bespoke commissions and delivery.

What is Pussaka Jewellery ?

Pusaka is a London-based jewellery studio specialising in handcrafted filigree jewellery that bridges Southeast Asian heritage with contemporary design. The name Pusaka comes from Javanese–Sanskrit, meaning “treasure” or “heirloom”, reflecting our philosophy of creating jewellery designed to be kept, worn, and passed down through generations.

Each piece is made by hand in our London studio, combining traditional wire-manipulation techniques with modern design processes. We offer both ready-to-wear collections and bespoke commissions, each created with precision, care, and a focus on narrative, symbolism, and enduring craftsmanship.

What materials do you use for your jewellery ?

Pusaka jewellery is created using highly malleable precious metals suited to the intricate nature of filigree craftsmanship. We primarily work with 925 sterling silver, 999 fine silver, and 18–22 karat gold, selected for their purity, durability, and ability to be shaped into fine, detailed forms.

We are committed to responsible making and strive to source our materials as ethically and sustainably as possible. Wherever feasible, we use recycled precious metals to reduce environmental impact and support more sustainable practices within the jewellery supply chain.

Our gemstones are sourced through trusted suppliers who prioritise ethical practices and traceability, ensuring quality while maintaining transparency in sourcing.

Do you offer bespoke jewellery services ?

Yes. Pusaka offers bespoke jewellery commissions, whether for a unique engagement ring, a meaningful gift, or a piece created around a personal story or milestone. Each commission is developed in close collaboration with you, ensuring the final piece reflects your vision, materials, and narrative.

Creating bespoke jewellery is an intricate process. Depending on design complexity and our workshop schedule, lead times typically range from 2–6 months, and in some cases up to 1 year. For this reason, we recommend booking your consultation as early as possible, ideally up to a year before your intended date.

To begin your bespoke journey, you may book a consultation via our appointment page or contact us directly at hello@pusaka.co.uk.

I want to buy a ring, but I’m unsure about my size. What should I do ?

If you’re unsure of your ring size, there are several ways to find the right fit before placing your order.

You may book a studio appointment with us to have your size professionally measured, use an online sizing tool such as Find My Ring Size, or download our PUSAKA ring size template.

When measuring at home, we recommend keeping a few factors in mind. Ensure your hands are at a comfortable, natural temperature, as cold weather can slightly reduce finger size, while heat or fluid retention may cause temporary swelling. It is also important to measure the exact finger intended for the ring, as sizes can vary between hands.

How do I place an order ?

You can place an order directly through our website by selecting your chosen piece and proceeding to checkout.

For bespoke or custom commissions, we invite you to contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk to discuss your design, materials, and timeline. Our team will guide you through the process to ensure your piece is created with intention and care.

Can I try on your jewellery before purchasing ?

Yes. You are welcome to book an appointment to visit our London studio and try on our pieces in person. To arrange a visit, please contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk, and we will be happy to assist with scheduling.

Do you offer discounts?

Pusaka does not typically offer discounts on ready-to-wear pieces. A portion of our annual sales is dedicated to supporting and developing the craft communities we work with, through training, workshops, and investment in tools and equipment that help sustain traditional techniques.

We do, however, offer special pricing for returning clients, particularly those who return for additional ceremonial pieces or bespoke commissions following an engagement ring.

Our clients are also given priority access to sample sales, as well as complimentary invitations to exhibitions, fairs, and events where we present our work.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal, ensuring a secure and seamless checkout experience. Payments can also be made via online bank transfer.

If you would prefer to pay by bank transfer, please contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk, and we will be happy to assist.

Sale, bespoke, and personalised pieces are non-refundable due to the nature of their production.

How should I care for my jewellery ?

Over time, jewellery may naturally lose some of its shine due to exposure to moisture, natural skin oils, and daily wear. With mindful care, your pieces can retain their brilliance for years to come.

We recommend applying perfumes, creams, and hair products before wearing your jewellery, allowing them to fully dry to minimise contact with precious metals such as silver and gold, which can naturally dull when exposed to liquids and chemicals.

Filigree jewellery is finely handcrafted and therefore delicate. We advise removing your pieces during activities such as exercise, gardening, or any heavy physical work to avoid scratches or structural stress.

When not in use, store your jewellery in its original packaging and gently clean it with the provided polishing cloth to maintain its finish.

If your piece has lost its shine over time, we offer a one-time complimentary polishing service for our customers. To arrange this, please contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk with your name and the serial number of your item.

Do you offer repairs ?

Yes. We offer repair services for Pusaka jewellery pieces, including handmade and filigree designs.

Please contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk with your item’s serial number and a brief description of the issue. Our team will review your request and advise on the most suitable way to restore your piece.

Each repair is handled with the same level of care and craftsmanship as the original making process.

Do you offer repurposing service ?

Yes. We offer a repurposing service for old or inherited jewellery, vintage pieces, and existing designs, transforming them into new, meaningful creations.

To ensure the best possible outcome, we kindly ask that you confirm the materials and stones in your original piece before commissioning. This helps us assess suitability for redesign or restructuring.

While we take the utmost care during the repurposing process, certain elements of older or pre-owned jewellery may be more delicate or unpredictable in structure.

Costs vary depending on the complexity of the design and the work required. To discuss your project, please contact us at hello@pusaka.co.uk.
